Dictation: Section View
Section view gives you a focused, text-first dictation experience, ideal for working through your report section by section without the body diagram visible.
Dictating in Section View
Section view is accessed through the Draft mode in the workspace. It presents your report as a series of section cards, each of which you can tap to dictate into.
Switch to Draft mode
Tap Draft in the mode picker at the top of the workspace.
Tap a section card
Each section appears as a card showing its name and any existing content. Tap a card to open the section editor.
Tap the microphone
In the section editor, tap the microphone button and speak your findings. The AI formats your dictation and displays it in real time.
Review and edit
After the AI finishes streaming, review the formatted text. You can edit it directly by tapping on the text, or dictate again to add more content.
Changing Sections
In section view, there are several ways to navigate between sections:
From the Draft Cards
Close the current section editor and tap a different section card in the draft view. Each card shows the section name and a preview of any existing content.
From the Section Sidebar
When the section editor is open, a sidebar shows all sections. Tap any section to jump directly to it without closing the editor first.
Swipe Navigation
In the section editor, swipe left or right to move to the next or previous section in order.
Tip: Sections with content show a checkmark or badge indicating they've been started. Empty sections remain unmarked, making it easy to see what's left.
Viewing the Draft
You can preview your full report as it would appear on the Locarda template at any time during the dictation process.
Switch to Report view
In Draft mode, toggle from Sections to Report at the top. This shows a continuous document view of all sections together.
Scroll through the report
The report displays all your formatted sections in order, as they would appear in the final exported document.
Tap to edit
Tap any section in the report view to jump into the section editor for that section.
Multi-Section Dictation
Locarda can intelligently route a single dictation across multiple sections. If you describe findings that span different parts of the report, the AI will automatically place content in the appropriate sections.
Dictate freely
When dictating, you can describe findings that cover multiple sections. For example, you might describe external findings and then transition to internal findings in one recording session.
Review the routing
After processing, the Review tab shows where the AI placed each piece of your dictation. You can see which sections received content.
Adjust if needed
If the AI placed something in the wrong section, you can reassign it from the Review tab before processing.
Note: For the most accurate routing, it helps to mention the section or body region you're transitioning to. For example: "Moving on to the internal examination..." or "For the cardiovascular system..."
