The Workspace

The workspace is where you do all your case work: annotating diagrams, dictating findings, reviewing your draft, and managing media.

Workspace Overview

When you open a case, you enter the workspace. It has three main modes accessible from the top navigation, plus a companion panel at the bottom for dictation and section management.

Diagram Mode

Diagram mode is the default view when you open a case. This is where you:

  • View and annotate your body diagram with Apple Pencil
  • Draw findings using pen, highlighter, and eraser tools
  • Navigate pages using the thumbnail sidebar on the right
  • Dictate findings while looking at the diagram

Tip: Diagram mode is ideal for the physical examination phase. Annotate as you examine, then dictate your findings into each section.

Media Mode

Media mode lets you manage all photos and documents associated with your case:

  • Take photos directly with the iPad camera
  • Import photos from your photo library
  • Add captions to images for organization
  • Insert images onto diagram pages

Draft Mode

Draft mode shows your report organized by sections. This is where you review and edit the formatted text that the AI has generated from your dictation.

  • Section cards display each section's content as editable cards
  • Report view shows the full continuous report
  • Tap a section to open a dedicated editor with voice dictation

Switching Between Modes

The mode picker sits at the top of the workspace. It shows three tabs with badge counts indicating activity.

1

Tap the mode name

At the top of the screen, tap Diagram, Media, or Draft to switch modes.

2

Check the badges

Badge numbers on the tabs show how many draft sections have content or how many review items are pending.

Floating Toolbar

The floating toolbar appears on the left side of the screen in Diagram mode. It gives you quick access to annotation tools:

  • Pen: draw with your Apple Pencil (tap again to change color and thickness)
  • Highlighter: semi-transparent marking
  • Eraser: remove drawing strokes
  • Color picker: choose from preset colors or a custom palette
  • Add page (+): add a blank page, photo, or imported PDF
  • Camera: take a photo and insert it
  • Photo library: choose an existing photo

Undo and redo: A small undo/redo bar appears near the toolbar when you're drawing. Tap undo to remove your last stroke.

Companion Panel

The companion panel is the floating bar at the bottom of the workspace. It handles everything related to dictation and section management:

  • Minimized state: shows a compact header with the current section name and a microphone button
  • Expanded state: reveals the full section picker, formatted text, suggestions, and coverage checklist
  • Swipe up to expand, swipe down to minimize

The companion panel stays accessible regardless of which mode you're in, so you can dictate while annotating the diagram, reviewing media, or editing the draft.
